THIS morning I went to the walk-in centre at Arrowe Park Hospital for a blood test.

The waiting area was full to overflowing and I was told I would have to wait at least an hour.

I decided to try St Catherine's instead -- but the situation there was even worse.

So then I phoned the Eastham walk-in centre to find out how long I would have to wait if I went there.

The answer I was given was at least an hour and a quarter. This is quite unacceptable.

Why do we no longer have the option of an appointments-based system?
