MY friend and I were out dog-walking in Dibbinsdale Nature Reserve on Monday morning, July 17, and my friend's dog decided to do a runner after hearing a loud bang.

For people who don't know "The Dibb," the paths are on many different levels so we were ages looking for him and terrified he would get out onto the road.

I just wanted to say a big thank-you to a fellow dog-walker named Alison, who - after I found the escapee and he tried to bolt again - very kindly came to the rescue and got him on a lead.

As Alison said "we'd all help each other" but little did she know how much she did help that day.

Many thanks for your time and consideration.
