MORETON is going deeper and deeper into decline - an avenue has been patched twice in six months and is still a disgrace but the pavements, especially in Pasture Avenue and Pasture Road, are a danger to everyone but unless a flag is sticking up about an inch-and-a-half then they won’t touch it.

What are we paying all this money for? I recently tripped over a paving flag in Pasture Avenue causing injury to my nose, chin and knee.

I went to see my doctor then to Arrowe Park Hospital for a scan on my head but luckily enough, no fractures just a damn sore head and knee.

I also ruined the leg of my trousers and a watch which was an expensive present from my wife two years ago and will cost me £310 when I get it back from the jewellers to put right again after it was badly scratched.

It’s just not good enough though is it? What the heck are we paying all this council tax for?

There’s an old saying “charity begins at home” and it’s time this council did just that and gave us good roads and pavements - and that’s just for a start.

Maybe when Members of Parliament come around scrounging for votes, they might one day trip, then maybe we will get something done. But until then watch where you’re walking - it’s a disgrace in places like Moreton where the council doesn’t even know we exist until they want taxes from voters.

Wirral Council are a law unto themselves. Moreton; once a beautiful village now a grimy town.

Peter Armitage, Moreton.
