IT is ironic that in the month named after Julius Caesar, two former conspirators against Jeremy Corbyn are now singing his praises.

Modern-day Brutus and Cassius, Tom Watson and Owen Smith, now tell the world they are right behind Corbyn’s leadership after two years of plotting against him.

If I were Corbyn, I’d watch my back and study the fate of an earlier 'JC' in 44BC.

Caesar defeated Pompey and his allies, Brutus and Cassius, in the Civil War, 49-48BC, but showed them clemency when the fighting stopped.

They repaid him for his magnanimity with sharp knives in the Senate House on the Ides of March.

Corbyn needs to beware of how yesterday's bitter enemies have now turned into fair-weather friends.

Unfortunately, like Caesar before him, Corbyn has promoted erstwhile coup-plotter Smith to the shadow cabinet.

They seek a Socialist transformation of society.

Sooner or later, blood will be spilt.
