TO the loud-mouthed bully who both physically and verbally assaulted me on Friday afternoon on the Hoylake to West Kirby cycle and pedestrian way alongside the rail track – you must be very proud of yourself.

Incidentally, to make you feel even more proud – I am 73 years old.

After coming on to the cycle way at West Kirby, I made the right hand sharp turn and with the sun in my eyes strayed over to the pedestrian side.

I was then forcibly stopped by a man in his late 40s to early 50s and subjected to the most violent temper and tirade of bad language about how he hated cyclists.

As I tried to protest I was assaulted with a rolled-up newspaper and then threatened to be thrown along with my cycle over the fence on to the railway track.

He tried to force me over to the cycle lane and then stormed off shouting disgusting language.

I told him he was out of control and he ran back to me ranting and raving and again using the most threatening behaviour.

I only wish there had been a witness to this terrifying experience.

I don't know if any golfers heard the altercation.

I was left shaking and very upset.

You read about road-rage with motorists but this was extreme pedestrian rage and physical assault.

Without any witnesses it was not worth going to the police so he got away with it.

I think he needs some anger management before he really hurts somebody.
