AROUND our coastline we are blessed with some truly amazing sea life.

We have dolphins, porpoise and seals, added to the recent sightings of the humpback whale in the bay and the minke whale washed up on Crosby beach a few years back.

If you are lucky, it is possible to see some of these while walking along the prom or sitting on the beach at New Brighton.

But as sad contrast, we get our first day of sun, and everybody hordes to the beach to enjoy the warm weather and to play in the sun.

As a regular beach walker, the difference in litter on the beach was disgraceful.

Pop bottles, sandwich cartons, plastic bags, cans and fast food trays were strewn on all sides of the beach, and just because people were too lazy to put their rubbish into the bins provided as they left the beach.

The wildlife I mentioned at the start, will see some of these items as potential food, or they can get caught / wrapped up in the plastic, all of which can ultimately lead to their deaths.

Apart from the dangers to wildlife, there are risks to other beach users and dog walkers.
