IT saddens me to say that people don't really understand what they are doing to family pets or wildlife when putting down rat poison – or they just do not care – cats, dogs all animals are in danger if we do not do something now.

My three-and-a-half-year-old ginger tom cat had to be put to sleep last Sunday as he was poisoned.

My research tells me it's not just cats that are effected, it's dogs, birds and rabbits too.

The animal eats the poison thinking it was left for them then their internal organs shut down.

Please, if you are reading this don't let another family go through the pain of having their companion put to sleep.

Please find an alternative to rat poison if you want help.
