YOUR correspondent Kathy Owen (Wirral Globe Mailbox, November 9) tells us she and her husband have left the Labour Party because Jeremy Corbyn has become leader.

More than 400,000 people have taken exactly the opposite step since Corbyn became leader.

Labour's membership is now over 600,000 and rising – the largest party membership of any political party in Western Europe.

Ms Owens goes on to claim Labour cannot win a general election with Corbyn. We shall see.

Most so-called "experts" told us the British people would not vote for Brexit.

They did, resoundingly.

The same so-called "experts" told us Trump could not win the US presidential election.

He did, although Clinton won a slightly bigger proportion of the popular vote.

So we live in very unpredictable political times, and nothing can be taken for granted anymore.

What is beyond doubt is that the ruling class and its press and media messenger boys and girls mortally fear a Labour government led by Corbyn.

Why else have they devoted acres of newsprint, and thousands of hours' radio and TV time, to attacking Corbyn and what he stands for if he has no chance of winning a general election?
