I HAVE just read the article in the Wirral Globe regarding changes to Wirral Community NHS Foundation Trust's phlebotomy service from December 1, and I am furious.

I have just had a blood test this morning, at an appointed time of 8.45am, at my local GP surgery, Greasby Medical Centre, and I am thankful I did before this ridiculous change occurs.

The next time I require a blood test, I will have to travel to one of the hub clinics without an appointment and wait until goodness knows for how long to be seen.

This is a backward step for patient care and will put patients off from obtaining a blood test.

What about people who have to attend work and want to be sure that they arrive at work at the appointed time?

What about elderly people who are not housebound, but cannot now rely on a short trip to their local GP practice?

I am so incensed that this change has been imposed on the local population without proper consultation.

George Murphy, Greasby.
