GERRY Ellis' negative comments in the Globe about the new golf courses in Hoylake seem to be those of a stuck-in-the-mud, out-of-touch, ill-informed and negative councillor.
Has he seen the decline in the local area over the last 10 years – mainly while Conservatives had been voted into the Hoylake ward and achieved nothing.
No wonder Conservatives were voted out in the local elections.
Go to Whitchurch, Gerry, and see the reversal Hill Valley Golf and Spa has done for them.
It is now a much more vibrant town than it was thanks to the golf, hotel and spa complex.
We are talking about scrub land here, not even good enough for produce or farming.
The land is ugly and an eyesore – it's not like we see galloping wildebeests on the horizon.
Let's raise Hoylake's profile for the people who have a future in the area – you may not need a job, but there are plenty of others who do.
