THE letter headlined 'Humiliating defeat awaits doctors' (Mailbox, May 7) is hardly a reasoned argument for or against the proposal, but shows considerable personal venom on the part of the writer with respect to the doctors involved in particular.

I WAS recently a patient at Arrowe Park Hospital on Ward 23. My husband is on Ward 17 after having major surgery.

THIRTY-nine Labour MPs backed the amendment, tabled by Birkenhead MP Frank Field, to delay the tax change which scrapped the 10p rate of income tax, included in Gordon Brown's last budget as Chancellor, until some form of compensation for those who would lost out could be put in place.

AS a boy in the 1970s, who enjoyed playing on Bidston Hill, I could never understand how the local council granted planning permission for the modern, white, concrete building at the rear of the old observatory complex to be built.
