'Egg Run has now grown into much more . . .'
YOUR correspondent who seems to think the Egg Run has deteriorated into quote "a sad state of affairs" (Mailbox, April 23) is, I'm afraid, living in the past.
Yes, the original intention was to just provide Easter Eggs to the children, but it has grown into so much more. As a biker for more than 46 years, I'm proud that so many people come together to provide not just the fleeting pleasure of a chocolate egg but over the years have supported Claire House and now the JellyBean Appeal, making life better for all children who have to visit a hospital on Wirral.
In these days of PC and health and safety considerations, just to organise the event is a massive task - incidentally, last year was not unofficial, as stated, although the two previous years were.
I have been proud to participate in this event and over the last few years have been joined by friends from Poland and Bulgaria who were absolutely bowled over by it.
So please stop the carping and just ride for the children.
D. Myers,
Ashfield Road,
Bromborough.
