Overall rail punctuality is improving, according to the latest figures
Rail punctuality improved last month, with all companies exceeding a trains-on-time figure of 90%.
The overall punctuality figure for March 4 to March 31 was 93.4%, which compared with 92.9% in the same period last year, Network Rail (NR) said.
The best-performing company last month was Merseyrail, which ran 97.2% of trains on time.
The poorest-performing company was East Coast with a March 2012 figure of 90.5%, though this was a marked improvement on its March 2011 figure of 85.7%.
East Coast's monthly figures have been consistently below 90% recently, with the company often being affected by events outside its control such as cable theft and suicides.
NR said the latest overall figure was the second best for any March and was one of the few times in recorded history when every train operator achieved a performance figure above 90%.
