Wirral Globe: Jennifer Ellison has been voted out of Dancing on Ice Jennifer Ellison has been voted out of Dancing on Ice

Emmerdale actor Matthew Wolfenden, X Factor flop Chico and Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter have been named as the finalists on Dancing on Ice after actress Jennifer Ellison was booted out of the contest.

The trio will battle it out in next week's live final on ITV1.

Former Brookside actress Jennifer failed to impress the judges in the skate-off against Jorgie. Panellists Louie Spence, Robin Cousins and Katarina Witt were unanimous in saving the soap star.

Jennifer had tears streaming down her face as she left, telling host Phillip Schofield: "I really loved it. I just want to thank everyone for this opportunity."

The 28-year-old, sporting a glistening red ra ra skirt, also cried after stumbling during her first performance of the night.

She received a score of 24 from the judges after doing a routine to Whitney Houston's I Wanna Dance With Somebody. "I feel like I fell at the last... the critical point," she said. "I just let myself down a bit."

To get additional points, the stars performed a solo skate to show off the skills they have learned throughout the contest.

Matthew automatically earned his place in the final by gaining the highest score on the leaderboard. Earlier, his Michael Jackson themed performance was applauded by the judges despite him dropping professional skater Nina Ulanova.

Chico, sporting a turquoise outfit, earned a high score of 28.5 for his "emotional" routine with professional partner Jodeyne Higgins. Jodeyne said: "I could not be more proud of him than I am tonight. He has brought it all together and it has touched my heart."

Jorgie said she was "so so happy" after performing a "floating headbanger" lift - which she struggled with during rehearsals. Mentor Christopher Dean said: "It would have been so easy to take it out and do something that would have fitted but it was a challenge and they didn't shy away from it."
