BIRKENHEAD St Mary's maintained winning form in the Bromborough Paints Merseyside and Southport Alliance with a five wickets margin in a high-scoring clash at Rainhill.

Shakeel Nawaz, 80 not out, and Steve McGenity, 66, were the batsmen to shine. Mizan Haq claimed 5-46.

Parkfield Liscard had to settle for a draw at Alder, where Adam Young struck an unbeaten 105, Kamran Hussein 79 and Grant Hughes 50.

Caldy posted their first win by eight wickets against Haydock. Rich Battersby took 8-22 as the visitors totalled just 65.

Tranmere Vics fell by 66 runs against Moorfield. They recovered from nine for six to 121 all out with number 10 Ed Briers unbeaten on 47.

In the Merseyside Competition, Port Sunlight suffered their first reverse by 55 runs at Old Xaverians, where they were dismissed for just 47. Brendan Woods took 6-31 for the soapmen.

Shaftesbury beat Maritime by 43 runs, Sam Mulligan enjoying a 5-27 return.

Bromborough found Singlehurst too strong and went under by 105 runs.

Parkonians had to settle for a home draw against Wistaston Village in Division Three of the Meller Braggins Cheshire League, being denied by the last visiting pair.

Players to shine for the home side were Simon Blackwell, 56 not out, Dave Fletcher, 54 not out, Chris Hitchell, 50, Will Walker, 43, and Chris Beckett, who took four wickets for the loss of only 25 runs.

Neston went down by four wickets against Bowdon in the Premier Division of the Right Move Abroad Cheshire County League.

Oxton and Upton won and Birkenhead Park drew in Division One, while in Division Two Irby fell by six wickets against Grappenhall.

In the Competition, Bromborough go to Maritime, Port Sunlight entertain Aigburth, Singlehurst have Cheshire Lines as visitors and Shaftesbury visit St Mary's College OB.

Parkonians, in the Cheshire League, are due at CH Ladybridge, with Wirral on the road to Pott Shrigley.
