THERE were excellent wins for Birkenhead St Mary's and Parkfield Liscard on a full day's play in the Bromborough Paints Merseyside and Southport Alliance - but Caldy and Tranmere Vics met with defeats.

Birkenhead accounted for visiting Moorfield by eight wickets. Mizan Haq led the way with an undefeated 108 while Shakeel Nawaz took 5-30.

Parkfield Liscard beat Manweb by seven wickets.

John McClennan, with 4-15, and Adam Young (4-17) helped dismiss Manweb for 71 runs.

Caldy fell by five wickets at home to Burscough. Andy Lawley took 4-29 while Dan Hargreaves hit 37.

Tranmere failed by 114 runs at Southport Trinity. Richard Baker claimed 4-38 and Chris Beer was 30 not out.

In the Merseyside Competition, Port Sunlight had a five wickets triumph at Mossley Hill. Brendan Woods, with a knock of 68, and Matt Howard (46) were the batsmen in form.

A. Williams hit 46 for Shaftesbury in a 15 runs success at Cheshire Lines.

Maritime, now playing at Bromborough Pool, saw off Old Xaverians by four wickets. Sathakaran had a 5-24 return.

Bromborough were denied by the last Hale Park pair. Park closed 54 runs adrift. Andy Van Beek reached 72 for Pool and Keith Hawkins returned 4-48.

Parkonians and Wirral both enjoyed victories in Meller Braggins Cheshire League Three. Wirral got home by 14 runs at Chelford.

Parkonians had 70 runs in hand over visiting Pott Shrigley. Nick Hitchell top scored with 79.

Alliance games on Saturday include Birkenhead St Mary's at Manweb, Caldy at Norley Hall and a Tranmere Vics v Parkfield Liscard derby.

In the Competition, it's Maritime at Aigburth, Bromborough v Cheshire Lines, Port Sunlight v Hale and Shaftesbury v Whitefield.

Cheshire League matches include Parkonians at Stockport and Wirral v Stretton.

Cheshire County League fixtures include Neston at Heaton Mersey, Oxton at Bollington, an Upton v Birkenhead Park derby and Irby v Bredbury St Marks.

There are also Alliance games on Monday, including Birkenhead St Mary's against Tranmere, Parkfield Liscard v Rainhill and Caldy at Prescot & Odyssey.
