THE start of the cricket season was a damp squib for local clubs in the Bromborough Paints Merseyside and Southport Alliance.
There was no play possible for Tranmere Vics, Parkfield Liscard, Birkenhead St Mary's and Caldy.
It is hoped conditions are better this Saturday, when the Merseyside Competition and Cheshire League programmes begin.

Alliance: Alder v Caldy; Birkenhead St Mary's v Prescot & Odyssey; Moorfield v Parkfield Liscard; Tranmere Vics v Sutton.
Competition: Port Sunlight v St Mary's College OB; Shaftesbury v Bromborough.
Cheshire League: Wirral v Parkonians.
