AN estimated eight thousand people turned out to watch the New Brighton Promenade Stages Rally at the weekend.
They watched 93 cars take part in the two-day event, driven by competitors from as far afield as Belfast, Gosport and Newcastle.

In second place was Paul Swift and Giles Dykes in their Ford Escort Mk2, whilst last year’s winners Paul Evans and Lawrence Powell came third in their Ford Escort Mk2.

The event was organised by Wallasey Motor Club. Its secretary Tony King told the Globe: “I think it was one of the most successful we’ve ever staged.
“We’d like to thank the council and residents for their support during this year’s event.”
