DARREN Beckly from Bebington was racing his 1900cc BMW 318is in the Toyo Tyres Racing Saloons Championship races at Oulton Park at the weekend.

Qualifying in heavy rain was difficult due to spray and standing water on the track but he coped better than some and got a very rewarding thirteenth out of twenty two entries.

With a drying track in the first race, Beckly had a phenomenal start from thirteenth and by the crucial first corner was up to an amazing sixth place, a position he was then able to hold right to the end of the race.

Starting from sixth in the second race on a damp track, he lost two places on the first lap but then held on to eighth place right to the chequered flag.

After the race Darren was delighted with his two race results in what had been tricky conditions, it had been good racing, the car had no damage, and he was still in second in the Class Championship.
