2:18pm Tuesday 30th October 2012 in More sports news By Andrew Stratton
CREWS had to contend with fresh wind conditions on the River Mersey for the latest Liverpool Yacht Club/Tranmere Sailing Club races at the weekend which signalled the start of the Late Autumn series.
Five yachts set sail on Saturday in the Venture competition. Simon Windle in Spring Onion took first place in Class One with Drift Away (Rob Smout) the runner-up.
Class Two was claimed by David Gray in Kahu from Cyrus (Allan Stanistreet).
The faster yachts were out on Sunday with a total of ten making the start line.
Richard Booth in Another Nods headed Class A from Eezie Tiger (Jon Oliver).
Class B went to Skukusa owned by Stuart Lofthouse with Warwick Telfer runner-up in Clarevouyant.
There is more racing this weekend with noon starts.
