JAMES Wallace and Jake Cassidy earned Tranmere Rovers their first away win of the year, a 2-0 defeat of Rochdale, last night.

Everton-loan signing Wallace scored his first goal for Ronnie Moore's squad less than half an hour into the match at Spotland Stadium.

Cassidy, who replaced hard-working colleague Ryan Brunt, netted the goal which netted three and points and took Rovers to 15th on the League One table.

The result took Ronnie's unbeaten run as manager to five games.

He said: "In the first half we were fantastic, the best since I've been here.

"I was disappointed we hadn't gone in two or three in front.

"We knew what was going to happen. They put a couple of subs on and really went for it and we had that 15-minute spell where they hit the post and we had a bit of luck.

"James was fantastic in the first half and what a finish. I think James was streets ahead of everyone tonight.

"It was nice for Jake to come on and what a finish for his first league goal."

Rovers' League One campaign continues on Saturday, when they face Exeter City at Prenton Park, 3pm kick-off.

Ronnie returned to the club two weeks ago and the have picked 10 of a desired 16 points.

But the relegation zone is still in sight and points are vital if the squad is to climb up the table.

Although it was time for celebration, Ronnie admits there is still a lot of work to do.

He said: "We're still not safe, there's an awful lot of work to do.

"We know what football is like, it can blow up in your face, but you've got to enjoy the good times when they're here.

"We need four of five points to be safe, but we've got another tough one against Exeter.

"If we can get the same result on Saturday it will take us a long way to being safe.

"We're not carried away. We've got a good bunch of lads and they're enjoying their football."
