TRANMERE Rovers' boss Micky Mellon is relishing the pressure of preparing for what is the biggest game of the season.

His side face Ebbsfleet United at Prenton Park on Saturday afternoon (12.15pm kick-off) and are just 90 minutes away from reaching the National League playoff final at Wembley, where the winner will be promoted to the holy grail of the Football League.

During a press conference at the club’s Solar Campus training ground in Leasowe this afternoon, Mellon said: "We're pleased that we know who we're going to face now, and it means that we're able to plan a little better now, because we know the opposition.

"I enjoy the pressure that comes along with it, because it makes you dig deep.

"I've had a few games like this where you feel you know it's a big game and as you get more experienced you get better at understanding that this just what it is and you enjoy it.

"I enjoy it; it's what you've worked hard all season to be involved in."

Looking ahead to the game, Mellon continued: "We'll be switched on, it's a really big game.

"We're looking forward to playing in front of a big crowd, on TV and the size of the game. It's exciting isn't it?

"It should be a great game, all the stakes are there to play for.

"We'll go out and do what we need to do to try to win a game of football."

He also urged fans to cheer them on to victory in what is the biggest game of their season.

He said: "Get right behind us, as you always do; I can't ask any more than that.

"It will be a fantastic day for everybody.

"It's what Tranmere wants to be involved in, it's what we should be involved in as a football club.

"They will enjoy being football fans, we'll enjoy playing under these conditions.

"We'll keep our focus and try to get over the line and it should make for a fantastic afternoon."

Echoing the manager's sentiments, goalkeeper Scott Davies added: "The players are excited, it's a big game.

"The season comes down to the next week, but we're ready.

"Saturday is all or nothing, so we have to make sure we're on our game.

"If you said we only had one more game to get to Wembley we'd have probably taken it, but hopefully the crowd will make a difference and we'll get the job done.

"We've played some big games and were in the playoffs last year so we'll be ready.

"We've been in all week and got a lot of work done we needed."
