TRANMERE Rovers take a break from national league action this weekend to face Barrow in the FA Trophy quarter final.

Two goals from Jake Kirby plus a header from Ritchie Sutton and an own goal by Mark Haines gave Micky Mellon's team a 4-1 victory against Chelmsford in the third-round replay on February 9 earned their place in tomorrow's game at Prenton Park, which starts at 3pm.

It marks the start of a busy two weeks for Micky Mellon's squad.

During a press conference at the club's Solar Campus training ground goalkeeper Scott Davies said a win tomorrow would be the perfect confidence boost for the team in the season's final 13 national league games.

He said: "There's nothing like winning games to give you confidence, and if that game is a cup game, then you take that confidence into the next league fixture.

"The carrot of playing at Wembley is there and there's nothing better in this country for players at our level than to play at the national stadium."

On players' fitness he added: "We have sports scientists and fitness coaches here, so we're at a good level fitness wise and it's about maintaining that now until the end of the season."

Rovers will be without Ben Tollitt and Jack Dunn tomorrow, through injuries sustained during Tuesday night's win over Boreham Wood.

During yesterday's press conference manager Micky Mellon said: "Ben Tollitt is out for the season and Jack Dunn will be out for between four and six weeks, so two main players are going to be missing for us as well as James Wallace.

"It has been a good week points wise but in terms of injuries, it has taken its toll a little bit.

"Ben has a knee injury so we're thinking he might need an operation very soon.

"He has had a scan and he'll see a specialist today and we'll get the full extent of it then.

"We can't do anything with Connor Jennings, he still has a couple of weeks at Macclesfield.

"We don't want to just keep bringing in players all the time so within the group we'll try and find another way now."
