TRANMERE Rovers' first team coach Shaun Garnett has said it is crucial that the squad returns to winning ways as soon as possible.

Their unbeaten start to the season finally came to an end – and with it their top of the table status – on Saturday as they were overcome by Aldershot at the EBB Stadium.

It ended a nine-match unbeaten run in the league and a club record 15-match unbeaten run away from home.

They host third-placed Lincoln City at Prenton Park this Saturday, September 10.

In an interview on the club's website ahead of the game, Garnett said: "Football throughout the season will be a rollercoaster journey.

"We know that the result from Saturday's game (at Aldershot) does not determine the outcome of the whole season.

"We've said to the players this morning that we have to start another run off beginning with Lincoln this Saturday.

"Whilst knowing that on our day we can beat any team in this league, we have to respect the opposition and we know that Lincoln have a lot of strengths and they'll be challenging at the end of the season."
