THERE were 12 goals to entertain the crowd at Prenton Park on Saturday afternoon in aid of the charity Show Racism the Red Card.

A team of professional footballers took on a team of celebrities with the professionals coming out on top 10-2.

Famous faces from the world of football included Tranmere legend Ian Goodison, former Liverpool stars Alan Kennedy, Gary McAllister and Jamie Carragher, plus former England international Trevor Sinclair among others.

On the opposing side there were a host of faces from the world of TV, film and music with the likes of actor and singer Ray Quinn, Emmerdale stars Michael Parr and Anthony Quinlan as well as Hollyoaks star Ashley Taylor Dawson.

The Celebs XI took a surprise lead before two goals from the All Stars XI gave them the advantage.

That was short-lived, though, as straight from the kick-off, Ian Goodison managed to wrong foot his goalkeeper Tony Warner as he attempted to pass the ball back to restore parity.

One further goal followed before half-time as the All Stars retook the lead and pushed on and extended that with seven further strikes after the interval to give them an emphatic victory.
