TRANMERE Rovers' manager Gary Brabin believes his squad has what it takes to secure a place in the play-offs.

During a press conference ahead of Easter weekend games against Lincoln City and Kidderminster, Gary Brabin said competition is strong among the players as they prepare for the final seven games of the National League campaign.

Rovers, currently sixth on the table, would claim six points if results go their way this weekend.

They face Lincoln City at Prenton Park on Good Friday afternoon and are away to Kidderminster on Bank Holiday Monday.

The club signed Hartlepool United striker Scott Fenwick this afternoon until the end of the season.

Looking ahead to what promises to be a tough Easter weekend of fixtures, Brabin said: "It's a big weekend and would be nice if we can get maximum points.

"We're getting stronger as the season's progressing. We are where we are and there's a realistic chance of promotion.

"We want to get back into division two, but first and foremost we've got to focus on our ultimate goal, the next game on Friday.

"We want competition for players and I want the standards higher.

"We are creating chances. The big plus side is that we are scoring goals throughtout the team.

"It would be nice if we had someone who had that little ruthless streak.

"I believe that getting back into League Two is a very reachable prospect, but we want to be winning games and certainly need to be winning more than most of the seven games that are left.

"Each of the last games are equally as big as eachother and we will take each one as it comes."

Looking to Friday's opponents, Brabin said: "Lincoln City are playing at this level and have players of good pedigree. They too have aspirations to get promoted.

“But at the end of the day, we have to concentrate on our own performances."

Brabin's thoughts were echoed by defender Matthew Hill, who said this afternoon: "This weekend there will be a lot of twists for all clubs, but our aim is to get promoted.

"If we can convert a few more we'll be in with a great chance of promotion.

"There's a lot of talk about how many games are left, but the lads are working hard to try and impress the gaffer.

"As long as we pick up six points it will put us on the right road.

"We're giving our all with the games that are coming and fans can see when we're pushing."

Looking ahead to the Easter weekend's games, he said: "Physically it will be tough, but that will also be the same for both teams."

New signing Scott Fenwick made 17 starts for the League Two club Hartlepool United this season, scoring six goals.

He was also an influential figure for Hartlepool at the end of last season under Rovers’ ex-manager Ronnie Moore, scoring a number of important goals as he finished the season as the club’s top goalscorer.

Born in Gateshead, Fenwick's youth career saw him play in the Academies at the top trio of North East clubs, Newcastle United, Sunderland and Middlesbrough.

On his new signing, Brabin said: "Scott is the type of player we've been looking for.

"He is someone we have kept a close eye on this season and I'm delighted that we are able to bring him into the club for what is an important part of the season.

"He will provide competition for places in the forward area and is hungry to do well to help us achieve our goal this season of promotion.

"He is a strong lad, a willing runner and has an eye for goal and I’m sure he will do well for us during his time here."
