Guiseley....................2

Tranmere Rovers.......2

Guiseley twice came from behind to secure a point against Tranmere in the National League.

Rovers took the lead on 34 minutes when a cross was turned into his own net by Guiseley defender Rob Atkinson.

The home side soon levelled things up with a goal from James Hurst.

A quarter of an hour after the half-time restart, Jake Kirby struck the ball well from 20 yards and saw it fly past the hosts' goalkeeper.

Again the lead was short-lived and two minutes later Hurst hit a stunning equaliser from 25 yards for his second of the night.

The shared point left the Yorkshire outfit three spots above the relegation zone and Tranmere in fifth-place play-off position.

Rovers boss Gary Brabin had named an unchanged team from that which beat Gateshead 3-1 on Saturday. Jay Harris returned to the squad after suspension and was named among the substitutes.

The manager said: "I thought we did enough to have won the game. I'm really disappointed with the goals we conceded, it wasn't like us of late, they were two bad goals to concede.

"But early on, nobody would have batted an eyelid if we had been 3-0 up with the chances we had.

"It's disappointing that we let them off the hook so easily.

"I was starting to feel that it wasn't going for us and then it's taken an own goal to open the scoring for us and then a great strike by Jake Kirby in the second half and then we felt we could go and manage the game.

"It was one or two little mistakes which have led to their goals which I'm disappointed about and we've dropped two points.

"We said before the game that this would be a tricky fixture but I thought we started the game really brightly but we just needed to find that little bit more and grind out a result but I fell we fell a little bit short."

On Saturday, Rovers make the long journey South for a key clash with Dover, one place and three points behind them in the table.
