LEE Vaughan's second-half strike earned Tranmere Rovers their fourth win in five National League games.

Tranmere dominated early proceedings with Jay Harris forcing Bromley goalkeeper Alan Julian into a smart save with a spectacular volley from 30 yards.

Rovers pressed again in the latter stages of the first half but despite pressure on the Bromley goal, the match remained goalless at the break.

Vaughan scored the winner for Rovers when the full-back latched onto Adam Mekki's pass and thundered home.

Rovers saw out the final minutes of the game to take another three points.

Gary Brabin made just one change to the side which started the last game - an extraordinary 4-3 win over Barrow thanks to a triple-goal injury time blitz - with James Norwood returning up front in place of Ben Tomlinson.

The manager said: "We deserved the points and it’s another good win.

"If you look at the last 15 or 20 minutes, it was certainly an old fashioned game where we’ve had to dig in.

"But if you look beyond that, the first half was as well as we’ve played this season. Coming in 0-0, you’re thinking we should be one or two goals up.

"So we were disappointed, but we started the second half with the same intensity.

"We created chances, fizzed it across the goal and next minute, Vaughan has got one and we've gone ahead."

Vaughan said the main thing was keeping a clean sheet and taking the three points: "We deserved it.

"It was a good display in the first half, we showed our quality and got the ball down and played.

"Then in the second half, after the goal, it was a bit backs to the wall but we put up a good performance.

"That is back-to-back wins which can only be a good thing. We have given ourselves a bit to do outside the play offs but we're all up for the fight as you have seen today."

Tranmere remained eighth in the table and will host National League strugglers Torquay at Prenton Park next Saturday.
