Barrow..........3

Tranmere......4

Tranmere Rovers came from two goals down with a minute left to score three and earn a sensational win at Barrow.

An Adam Mekki penalty put Gary Brabin's side ahead early on but Jason Walker's penalty, a Simon Grand header and Andy Cook's tap-in put the hosts in control.

Back-to-back defeats loomed for Rovers but Lois Maynard's 89th-minute drive sparked a frantic finish and Jeff Hughes rounded the keeper to level.

Substitute Jake Kirby's deflected 95th-minute strike sealed an incredible win.

Rovers' manager Gary Brabin said his side showed "real character" to earn a win they "deserved" in what was possibly the National League's most thrilling fixture this season.

Hughes' first Tranmere goal was the pick of the finishes and Rovers are now eighth and looking towards the play-off places.

"I thought we had a good first half and played the conditions well but couldn't get that second goal again," said Brabin.

Brabin continued: "We started the second half well and then got done for a sucker punch. We got counter attacked and punished, which was disappointng, but we showed real character to come back.

"We certainly haven't given up and we got three goals from players who, before the game, I had asked for more return from and we got it.

"We felt we were creating enough chances but we needed to penetrate the goal more. I felt we did that at the end and we deserved the win at the end.

"That's football. It's a game of 90 plus minutes and you have to go right to the end.

"There are a lot of games to go. We're around the pack. We should be a few points better off but we're certainly not giving up. There's a lot of points still to play for, there will be ups and downs but we'll keep going right til the end."
