TRANMERE Rovers' manager Gary Brabin hopes this weekend's FA Trophy tie against Wrexham will see his squad return to winning ways after a disappointing run of results.

During a press conference this afternoon, Brabin said he expected a tough test from Gary Mills' side at Prenton Park on Saturday. Their last match ended 2-2 at the Racecourse Ground earlier this season.

Looking ahead to the game, Brabin said: "It's a game that we want to win and we need to get back into the habit of winning football matches.

"It's a good test for us, good opposition and it will be a different test for us as the opposition will fancy their chances and be coming onto us so it will open the game up a little bit.

"It's a game where we'll be looking to convert chances, score goals and hopefully that will lead to us winning football matches.

"We're working hard every day to try to improve our fortunes on the pitch and Saturday is another opportunity for another game, possibly try a couple of things and hopefully get back to winning ways.

"We want to get better.

"Although I'm happy with the squad of players, there are certain areas where we need to get stronger."

Rovers' miserable home form returned last weekend as first half goals from Danny Sparkes and Simeon Akinola gave part-timers Braintree a deserved victory at Prenton Park.

The result left Gary Brabin's team in twelfth position in the National League while the visitors climbed to sixth.

Summing up the mood at Prenton Park, Brabin continued: "The lads are as frustrated as we all are.

"They want to be part of a winning football club and at the moment we're not winning enough games."
