IN difficult windy conditions, Boreham Wood and Tranmere played out a 0-0 draw in a match that caused a catalogue of injuries for the visitors.

Gary Brabin made to changes to the side which started against Woking.

New loan signing Lee Vaughan came in for his debut while Ben Tomlinson returned to the starting 11.

Tranmere were forced into a change on 29 minutes when Jay Harris limped off to be replaced by Adam Mekki.

Rovers had another injury set back when Liam Hogan limped off to be replaced by Ritchie Sutton.

The third injury problem came on 50 minutes when Taylor-Fletcher limped off and Andy Mangan came on.

Gary Brabin was disappointed not to be leaving with all three points, but said it was important to return to keeping clean sheets: "We needed to get back to basics in terms of keeping clean sheets.

"We defended properly and they haven't had a shot on target which is a real plus.

"They came out of the blocks strongly as they've picked up of late so we expected a tough game and it was but we had a couple of good chances near the end which we didn't convert.

"Getting back to keeping clean sheets away from home is a positive.

"We would have liked to have won the game but it wasn't through lack of trying.

"First and foremost, I think we need to get back to being solid. It was important to keep a clean sheet, Scott Davies had nothing to do all game."

Tranmere were forced to make all three substitutions through injury and Brabin gave an early injury assessment.

He said: "Jay Harris did his ankle in the first five minutes, we tried to persevere with him for 15 minutes but he couldn't continue.

"Liam Hogan has twisted his knee, that looks quite nasty.

"And then five minutes into the second half, Gary Taylor-Fletcher landed awkwardly on his calf but I don't think it's too bad.

"Even with the substitutions, I thought we had some good chances at the end."

The manager was pleased with the performance of debutant Lee Vaughan who made his first Rovers appearance at right back.

"Lee came in straight away and was solid. He offered us something going forward so it was a pleasing debut for him."

Rovers will be hosting Braintree Town at Prenton Park on Saturday.

Assessing this weekend's opponents, Brabin said: “They are a tough physical side that likes to play long ball.

"We've got to be conscious of the opposition, and we know they will make it hard for us.

"We have to create chances and get back to winning ways."
