TRANMERE Rovers continue their National League campaign on Tuesday with what promises to be a tough game against Southport FC.

It follows Rovers 2-0 victory over Chester FC during Saturday's 'Cheshire derby' at Prenton Park.

Rovers' manager Gary Brabin is more than familiar with Southport, having been their manager on two occasions.

During a press conference at Prenton Park ahead of tomorrow's game, coach James Quinn said: "We know about Southport, we know Paul Carden very well and we know what his team with come out with on Tuesday.

"They'll be aggressive and play on the front foot.

"They've had a really difficult start to the season in terms of the fixtures, but they'll be lifted by this game and there will be a good crowd for them to play in front of so it's going to be another tough game for us.

"But our boys know that, and we have enough experience to know what is going to come at us so hopefully we can deal with that."

Goals from Liam Hogan and James Norwood took Gary Brabin's squad to victory on Saturday afternoon.

Coach James Quinn said he was happy with the formation and the performance of new signing Adam Dawson.

Reflecting on the squad's performance, Quinn said during today's press conference: "The formation was something we have tried to get into the team for a while but unfortunately personnel hadn't allowed us to do so.

"With Adam Dawson coming in from Kidderminster, it gave us natural width and Adam Mekki is getting fit again after a series of injuries.

"Before Saturday, it has been difficult to play the formation we'd really like to play but we managed it and it looked good and it will improve.

"Dawson has been on the manager's radar for a while. He had a look at him in the summer and then against Kidderminster, he was a threat against us.

"We've watched him a few times and he was something we were looking for on that right hand side, a natural wide man who likes to beat players.

"He has tricks, he's aggressive and he works hard and I think he will influence how we play as a team.

"The players have good belief in their ability and we believe in them as a staff.

"We trust them and they were really good in training all last week and, on Saturday, it showed how much the game meant to them and how much they wanted to win and it was a terrific performance."
