TRANMERE Rovers boss Gary Brabin has welcomed the decision to overturn a red card given to Ritchie Sutton during Saturday’s draw with Welling.

Rovers were reduced to ten men and Sutton faced a three-game ban after being dismissed for an innocuous off-the-ball clash with Sahr Kabba.

Television replays failed to justify the ref's decision and it was overturned on appeal.

It has emerged Kabba has now been charged under a new rule against feigning injury and could himself now face a three-match ban.

At Prenton Park this afternoon - ahead of the derby clash with Chester - Brabin said: "I'm glad they have seen the footage and overturned the decision, which I think was the right thing to do.

"We've been wronged and they have put a little part of it right, but we need to move on from it now."

Savouring the Chester showdown at Prenton Park, Brabin continued: "The atmosphere is going to be fantastic.

"Chester are an attacking side so I’m expecting a tough end-to-end, exciting game. The atmosphere is going to be fantastic.

"They have had a good start. It's an ex-league club that’s found themselves in the same position as us, so they will have a lot to prove when they come here and will be full of confidence."

The manager's enthusiasm was echoed in a joint statement by the clubs' boards which called on fans to "enjoy this Saturday's game at Prenton Park in the right spirit.

"Rivalry between clubs is healthy and a big part of what makes football the sport we all love, but the action should always stay on the pitch.

"We want fans of both clubs to enjoy the day, cheer their sides on and create a fantastic atmosphere inside Prenton Park."

Both sets of supporters will be invited to the fan-zone marquee from 12.30pm to watch Everton v Chelsea on the big screen.
