Tranmere Rovers..........4

TRANMERE Rovers recorded their second win of their National League campaign after a comfortable victory at Gateshead.

Liam Ridehalgh put Rovers in front from close range before Ritchie Sutton's header doubled their lead soon after.

Michael Ihiekwe volleyed a third before Jon Shaw clawed one back for the home side from Craig Baxter's cross.

Any chance of a Gateshead comeback ended when Matthew Hill drilled a second half finish to seal victory for Tranmere.

Manager Gary Brabin was happy with the result.

He said: "It's a tough place to come to but to score four goals here, I'm delighted.

"I'm a little disappointed with the goal we conceded to be honest, I feel it could have been avoided. But overall I'm really pleased with the performance.

"We're still finding out about ourselves but we're working hard and we'll only get better. I thought it took us 25 minutes to get going in terms of possession of the ball, but once we started working on things we've been working on, we ended up scoring three goals from it.

"Ritchie scored with a great header. It was something we're working on and can get better at. Overall it was a really pleasing performance.

"Matt Hill has been brilliant in the last two games. He had a really good pre-season, he's a great character and he did excellently winning the ball in the first place, it was like Roberto Carlos with the strike! It was a great goal.

"I thought the midfield worked their socks off. But the whole side did really well. Both full backs did well going forward and scored, Rides put in some great crosses and the front two had some good movement and got in good positions so it was a really good performance."
