TRANMERE chairman Mark Palios has thanked fans after season ticket sales exceeded £300,000.

Supporters are rallying around the club following the heartbreak of April 25, when Rovers were relegated from the football league on the final day of the season.

Dropping out of league football ended an unbroken 94-year run for Tranmere, and Palios admitted at the time he was devastated - but he added: "Tomorrow the sun will come up. It's not a disaster tomorrow."

The chairman said today: "We're really grateful to all those supporters who have stuck by us and signed up for a season ticket for 2015-16.

"We want to come back stronger next season so there's a huge amount of work taking place off the pitch all with the aim of making Prenton Park a place our fans can be proud of and want to bring their friends and family to.

"The positivity from our fans throughout the summer has been fantastic and we hope the changes we've made around Prenton Park will be something of a thank you for their ongoing support.

"We also have to thank the Tranmere Rovers Trust and the Tranmere Rovers Disabled Supporters Association, both of whom have helped make the improvements happen."

Major change has been the order of the day since new manager Gary Brabin was appointed in May, tempted away from Everton FC which he had joined at the beginning of the year to take up a coaching role in the Academy.

Seven Rovers players were relased shortly afterwards - all of whose contracts were scheduled to terminate at the end of the season - including veteran goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams.

Brabin has been hard at work since, building a team to help steer Tranmere to a speedy exit out of the fifth tier of English football and back into the league.

Signings include striker James Norwood, defenders Liam Hogan, Martin Riley, Ritchie Sutton and Lois Maynard, plus midfielders Jay Harris and Steven Jennings, who has been secured for a further year.

There will be change, too, for the Conference Premier which will officially become the Vanarama National League this season.

The competition has also announced a new logo and a renewed three-year TV broadcasting deal with BT Sport.

The two divisions of the sixth tier, currently Conference North and South, will be renamed the Vanarama National League North and Vanarama National League South.

The league will also have its own TV channel, NLTV, which will focus exclusively on the 68 member clubs across the three divisions.

  • Two weeks remain for Tranmere fans to take advantage of the best ticket prices available, with the deadline for both renewals and "early bird" season tickets on Tuesday, June 30.
