ADAM Dugdale has returned to Tranmere Rovers for a second spell today after signing a six-month contract.

The 27-year-old defender left Crewe Alexandra earlier this week. He started his career at Crewe before leaving in 2007. He spent three seasons in non-league before returning to Alexandra and has since gone on to make more than 140 appearances for the club.

He spent a month on loan at Prenton Park in 2013-14.

The contract includes an option of further year's extension.

Manager Micky Adams said: "I'm really pleased to be able to bring Adam in.

"He's a strong, determined defender who has a lot of experience at this level and higher.

"Adam is a local lad, he’s been here before and he’s a good addition to our squad."
