TRANMERE Rovers take on Premier League side Swansea City in the FA Cup third round at Prenton Park this weekend.

Rovers' boss Micky Adams says his players have nothing to lose from Saturday's game, which will feature on BBC 1's Match Of The Day.

It will be the 29th time the two clubs have met, with Swansea holding a ten-wins-to-six advantage and 12 matches ending all square.

The only previous meeting in the FA Cup was a 2-1 win for Tranmere in 2003-4, with goals from Ryan Taylor and Iain Hume earning Brian Little's side a place in the quarter finals.

Last time the clubs met in the league Chris Greenacre netted a late equaliser at the Liberty Stadium to cancel our Alan Tate's opener, while Swansea won 3-1 at Prenton Park in the Carling Cup second round in 2010-11.

Players who have represented both clubs include Andy Robinson, Mike Howard, Shaun Garnett, Pat McGibbon, Mark Hughes and Jason Price.

Looking ahead to tomorrow's game, Adams said: "You have to embrace every game in the FA Cup. This would be a massive giantkilling if we were to pull it off.

"That's what we'll be trying to do. I want us to go out there and show what we're all about.

"Particularly for the young players in the side like Stockton and Power, go and show people that you're good players.

"There's a lot of media interest in it, Match of the Day are there as well and it's a good time to showcase this football club and show what we're all about.

"I'm a positive person, I want my sides to go out and win a game and this game against Swansea is no different.

"Having said that the task is enormous. How do we win the game? We need to have a bit of luck, my goalkeeper needs to play well, we need to take our chances and we need to pray!

"It's not daunting, the pressure's not on us. To get to the third round is a fantastic achievement for a team in the lower echelons of the league.

"I'm sure our fans will get behind the team and make it a real cup atmosphere. You never know, that's the beauty of the FA Cup.

"Certainly if you don't show up on any given day you can be embarrassed and from our point of view we've got nothing to lose."
