TRANMERE Rovers goalkeeper coach Dave Timmins says he is ready for the buzz of this weekend’s FA Cup first round clash with Bristol Rovers.
The tie takes place at Prenton Park on Saturday, kick off 3pm.
The clubs have met just once in the FA Cup previously, with Rovers winning 2-0 in the second round in 1931-32 thanks to goals from Sammy Meston and Ernie Dixon.
During a press conference at the club this afternoon, Timmins said: “It’s another game, and a home draw too, so even better. It’s giving me a buzz.
“I was at Shrewsbury when we beat Everton in 2000. It was the year we got relegated.
“When I was at Preston we played Manchester City at Bristol. The FA Cup is a chance to take on some of the big players.
“We’ll be trying hard for a win and so will Bristol.”
The only other cup meeting between Tranmere and Bristol Rovers was the 1989-90 Leyland DAF Cup Final at Wembley Stadium which Johnny King's side won 2-1, the goals coming from Jim Steel and Ian Muir.
