TRANMERE Rovers boss Micky Adams hopes his side will follow their midweek draw against Mansfield with a win against AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.

Adams - who was appointed manager on Monday - believes a goal is just around the corner and is confident they will return with just that and crucial points from the game at the Cherry Road Records Stadium, which starts at 3pm.

He has no new injury concerns, but is without Jason Koumas, Matt Hill, Cole Stockton and Liam Davies who are out of action through injury. Liam Ridehalgh is in full training and nearing a return.

Adams has also added to the squad today by signing centre back Josh Thompson on loan from Colchester United until January 2015. The 23-year old started his career at Stockport County before joining Celtic in 2009.

Rovers head to the Cherry Red Records Stadium on the back of Tuesday night's 0-0 draw against Mansfield and hoping for a win which could lift them as many as three places.

AFC Wimbledon are 12th in the division and have won three, drawn two and lost two at home this season.

Dons boss Neal Ardley has a fully fit squad to select from after midfielder Tom Beere returned to training following a hamstring injury.

Assessing tomorrow's opponents, Adams said: "They have got some real experienced players. We've got to go and play football.

"The clean sheet is something to build on. A goal would have been nice. From a playing perspective we did everything but score and it was encouraging.

"I think I saw enough the other night to suggest a win is just around the corner, a goal is just around the corner and lets hope we can combine it on Saturday and get a decent result."

"I've been busy. There's a lot of interest in the club with agents wanting to bring loan players in or players who are unattached. The football club is an attraction for players which is nice to hear.

"I've been getting to know the staff and the most important thing is I'm getting to learn about the players.

"We've had some good training sessions and they've been working really hard.

"I've been really pleased with the effort they've shown and their willingness to adapt to what I want and their willingness to listen and learn. All in all it has been a good week."

Adams was satisfied with the contribution of loan signings Armand Gnanduillet and Danny Johnson on Tuesday and says whoever plays in attack for him will have to work hard for the rest of the team.

He added: "All the strikers we've got have got to work as hard as they can. I want them to get hold of the ball, to be a threat.

"I want us to get balls into them as quickly as we can and if we're going to do that they need to keep hold of it and that allows us to squeeze up the pitch and give our back four a rest.

"There's a bit of information I've got to pass on to them and they've got to learn quickly."
