TRANMERE Rovers' new manager Micky Adams has signed Chesterfield's Armand Gnanduillet to his squad on a month's loan ahead of tonight's League Two match against Mansfield Town at Prenton Park.

The striker could make his debut at Prenton Park in the manager's first game in charge.

However, Adams - who was appointed on Thursday - is without Matt Hill, Danny Woodards, Cole Stockton and Liam Davies through injury.

The match, which will be Adams' 747th as a manager, gives Rovers - currently bottom of the table - a chance to improve on their home record in 2014-15 of one win, two draws and three defeats.

Mansfield come to Prenton Park in 16th place in League 2 with 17 points from 13 games. The Stags have won one, drawn one and lost four on the road this season.

Mansfield boss Paul Cox is without Luke Jones, out of action with an Achilles tendon injury and Matt Rhead (hamstring) while Adam Murray misses out through suspension.

Tonight's game, which kicks off at 7.45pm, will be the 77th time the two clubs have met.

Rovers have a 33 wins to 23 advantage in past meetings, including a 2-0 win in the Capital One Cup first round last season thanks to goals from Chris Atkinson and Andy Robinson.

The biggest ever home win for Tranmere against the Stags was a 6-2 victory in 1990, while goals from Gary Jones, Simon Haworth and Jason Price earned Rovers a 3-1 win in the last league meeting between the clubs in April 2003.

Players who have represented both clubs include Verdi Godwin, Bobby Hutchinson, Russ Allen, Steve Peplow, Steve Cooper, Paul Black, David Kelly and Chris Greenacre.
