TRANMERE Rovers kick off their League Two campaign at Prenton Park on Saturday.

The 2014-15 season is just days away with Tranmere taking on York City at 3pm.

Rob Edwards’ squad have just a handful of training sessions left before the new season and continued their preparation with a behind closed doors game against Crewe Alexandra on Friday night.

Edwards has recruited seven new players over the summer, with Marcus Holness, Michael Ihiekwe, Danny Woodwards, Marc Laird, Matt Gill, Eliot Richards and Kayode Odejayi arrived at the club, while Jason Koumas and Jake Kirby both extended their contracts at Prenton Park.

The game against York will be the first time the clubs have met since an FA Cup second round replay in 1991-92 when goals from Kenny Irons and John Aldridge gave Johnny King’s side a 2-1 win.

Rovers’ pre-season training has seen them hold Everton to a 2-2 draw and Bolton Wanderers 1-1 at Prenton Park friendlies last month.
