TRANMERE Rovers remain one place above the drop zone after they were beaten 2-1 by Swindon Town at Prenton Park on Tuesday night.

Max Power's first goal of the season wasn't enough for John McMahon's squad. After Power equalised with a left foot shot, Rovers were on top and hit the cross bar twice.

Swindon's second goal gave the visitors all three points.

Assistant manager John McMahon was disappointed to see his side come away empty handed from last night's game.

In a post-match interview he said: "It's really frustrating. You have large, large parts of the game and then you end up coming away with no points. It's really frustrating and really disappointing.

"You can't knock them for effort, for work rate, passion and desire. I just really feel for them in the changing room.

"We started the second half on the front foot and it's fantastic ability from Ryan to bring it down and then the vision and awareness ... and it's just inches.

"It's not going for us at the minute but we'll keep going as always.

"It's tough. We'll come in Thursday and dust ourselves down and it's up to myself and the staff to motivate the players.

"Confidence is fragile ... at the minute we just can't get over the line. But we'll keep believing.

"I'm a big believer that if you work hard you'll get rewards.

"I'm sure the players are working hard enough and I know the staff are.

"I'll keep believing, the players will keep believing and we'll keep fighting as a club."

Rovers' League One campaign continues on Saturday, taking on Carlisle at Prenton Park, 3pm.
