TRANMERE Rovers have secured their place in League One next season after beating Walsall 1-0.
Birkenhead-born midfielder Andy Robinson scored the only goal of the game in front of 3,895 spectators at Banks's Stadium on Saturday.
The win took Ronnie Moore's squad to 11th on the table with 54 points.
Paying tribute to their 'Battling performance', Ronnie said: "It's fantastic for all of us, not just me.
"The players' response since I've been here has been fantastic.
"We've had one or two little hiccups but overall, considering we were a point off the drop when I came back, they've given me everything.
"Now we're looking to see how high we can finish, that’s the big thing for us."
He said the squad has surpassed his expectations: "When you come into a side that's struggling to get wins it's hard to see how you are going to turn it around, but we’ve turned it around in a very positive way.
"We decided that if the inevitable was going to happen and we were going to go down we were going to do it the right way and go down fighting.
"We've changed had a go, got crosses here, scored goals and had clean sheets.
"We've had a little bit of fortune along the way, every team has a bit of good luck, but overall everyone of them have given me their all."
Praising goalscorer Andy Robinson, Ronnie continued: "Robbo is a fantastic player and we need to give him the ball. He's clever and he can pass it."
Rovers are in League One action against Hartlepool at Prenton Park on Saturday, 3pm.
It is the first of their final three games of the season and Ronnie sees it an opportunity to use some of the players who haven't featured since he returned as manager in March.
On his own future at the club, Ronnie said: "We're just waiting on things to get sorted.
"We've more or less agreed on everything that needs to be agreed on and, hopefully, it will be early next week when I should imagine things will be done."
