Tranmere to face Bolton Wanderers in pre-season friendly

TRANMERE Rovers will play Bolton Wanderers at Prenton Park as part of their pre-season friendlies programme.

The Championship club will take on Ronnie Moore's squad on Tuesday, August 7, at 7.30pm.

Rovers will also face League Two sides Fleetwood Town and Port Vale in addition to a number of pre-season friendlies against non-league opposition.

Ronnie said: "It's going to be a fantastic season, with some exciting games coming up.

"It's also going to be a difficult, harder season with more travelling so we have to prepare for this.

“We want to be more competitive. Some of the goals we have conceded this season have been jokes.

"Our home form is brilliant and we need to ensure this is maintained next season while we also have to improve our away form."

"No one would have thought the club would finish in the top half of the table, it's fantastic.”

TRFC pre-season friendlies are: Monday, July 23: v Cammell Laird, 7pm kick-off (away); Tuesday, July 24: v Heswall, 7pm (away); Friday, July 27: v Vauxhall Motors, 7pm (away); Saturday, July 28: v Marine, 3pm (away); Saurday, August 4: v Fleetwood Town, 3pm (away); Tuesday, August 7: v Bolton Wanderers, 7.30pm (home); Saturday, August 11: v Port Vale, 3pm (away).

Rovers ended their last League One season with a 1-1 draw against Scunthorpe United at Prenton Park.

Mark McChrystal scored the goal which earned Ronnie Moore's side a final league position of 12th, their highest for three years.

Their NPower League One season begins on Saturday, Ausgust 18. Next season’s fixtures will be announced on June 18.
