  • "I am sorry to see Les depart Tranmere-I think in the end it was a struggle. BUT I think its unfair to lay the blame at Peter Johnson's door. Yes there has been a lack of investment in players, but where does the money come from. Gates are down I know I go to some games, and people are cutting back. I know the sale of land to build houses on was not the best plan or the right one-however I am sure the club would have received some much needed funds for new players. I don't know what the answer is to investment/funds, and I am sure if the writer has any idea's TRFC or PJ would welcome them.
    TRFC are not on their own there have been 3 clubs gone under in less than a month, TRFC its Chairman, & Directors and all the supporters do their best to support the club, but it must be an uphill struggle. I know if I was in charge I would think twice about investing in a club that has dwindling numbers of supporters, and no prospect of sponsors paying REAL money to advertise on shirts etc.."

TRANMERE Rovers have confirmed this evening that the club has "parted company" with manager Les Parry.

Sky Sports broke the news last night that it understood Parry had been fired following Rovers 1-0 defeat against League One bottom club Chesterfield yesterday.

Rovers have revealed nothing more tonight other than to verify the Sky story that Parry is no longer in charge.

Dissatisfaction with the manager has been growing among some supporters and a section of the away crowd repeatedly chanted "Parry out" during Rovers defeat against Oldham last week.

Fans' internet forums are filled with discussion about the Sky article and some posters claim Parry did not travel back with the squad on the team coach from Chesterfield.

In a post-match interview on Rovers' official website, it appeared Parry was fearing the worst as his side slipped to just one point above the relegation zone.

Without a win in 11 games and with 13 fixtures remaining this season, Parry said: "The pressure showed today, we played with a bit of fear and that makes it even more difficult.

"But that's natural. That's the predicament we are in.

"The fans were fantastic today.

"There's a section who want me out and I can't really criticise them for that.

"We are in the middle of a really bad run and they are probably getting the jitters and thinking that if we bring someone else in it might be the catalyst to get that win.

"The Chairman has got to be thinking that as well at some point.

"He'll make that decision at the right time.

"I've never jacked anything in. I've had a successful life and I think I've succeeded here at Tranmere as well.

"But it could end up on a low where I end up losing my job.

"When it does happen, and there's a fair chance it could happen tomorrow or even tonight, I've got to be realistic; if it does, it does."
