TRANMERE Rovers take on their nearest League One rivals Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park tomorrow afternoon.

The fixture, kick-off at 3pm, will be the 70th time the two clubs have met in league action.

Rovers, currently 17th on the table with 34 points, have won one and drawn two of their last trips to Boundary Park, with last season's game ending goalless.

Their 1-0 win earlier this season took the overall record to 25 victories for Tranmere and 28 to the 16th-placed Latics.

The highest-scoring game between the two clubs at Boundary Park ended with a 4-3 win for Rovers in 1950.

Looking forward to tomorrow's game, which follows a 1-1 draw with Charlton Athletic last weekend, Parry said this week: "It's a big weekend. They are the team immediately above us in the league.

"They're our closest rivals and it's going to be a massive game.

"It's a more important game than Charlton. We can't impact on the relative positions between us and Charlton but we can impact on the positions between us and Oldham.

"If we go there and get a win we'll go above them and that's what we've got to be aiming for."

Although the draw was a creditable result against the league's high-flyers, Rovers have not won since beating Bury on December 30.

Parry said: "We just need that break. I don't believe in luck, but we need that decision to go for us, or that deflection to go for us.

"In recent games we've drawn against Huddersfield, Carlisle and Charlton - that's three of the top six at the time. So that's not bad form.

"Performance-wise we've got nothing to complain about, we take our chances and we're always going to be difficult to beat."
