A SLIM thread is all that is keeping Tranmere Rovers' promotion hopes alive . . .
Manager Ronnie Moore's dreams of leading Rovers out of Coca-Cola League One via the end-of-season play-offs lies shattered after Saturday's 0-2 defeat by Nottingham Forest at Prenton Park.
With just three games of the season left, Rovers now have to rely on other promotion rivals dropping points - it is now out of their hands.
Last night (Tuesday) sixth-placed Leeds United were in action at Huddersfield, to where Tranmere travel on Saturday (kick-off 3pm) before entertaining fifth-placed Southend on April 26. Their final fixture is at Northampton on May 3.
Rovers have now slipped to ninth in the table and, although Moore remains in fighting mood - "there's no white flags here" - he is making plans for next season's promotion push.
Said Moore: "The lads know we're still in with a shout and with three games to go I still think we've a chance to get into the play-offs."

He said talks were ongoing with potential new players for next year's squad. "Obviously I can't name who they are," said Moore. "But I know who we want for next season.
"We'll get through these three games and see where we are - we've certainly made it difficult for ourselves."
