CALDY took sixth place in National Three North League with an excellent 18-7 victory at Rugby Lions.

But then they took the game to the opposition and always seemed the likely winners.

Craig Ross and Marcus Coast scored tries for the Paton Field side and Simon Mason hit one conversion and a brace of penalties.
Birkenhead Park, with a changed side, could not halt the victory march of Kendal in North One. The unbeaten Cumbrians finished 20-7 to the good in a game played under atrocious conditions at the Upper Park.

New Brighton back-row man Josh Bates sustained an ankle dislocation which required surgery, but on a brighter note both the Dorrington brothers, Mark and Steve, had a share of the action and together have now achieved 900 appearances for the Hartsfield club.
Wirral had to settle for a trio of penalties by Dan Naylor in a South Lancashire and Cheshire One 9-16 home reverse at the hands of Widnes.
