Cheshire rounded off their programme for the extended RU season with a rewarding 30-22 victory at Twickenham to lift the County Championship Shield for the second time, writes Andrew Stratton.
Things did not look good at the half way stage when Herts led 15-0 but the Cheshire forwards took over later and the backs made good use of the adequate possession.
They quickly turned the score line round with tries from second-half replacement Gavin Roberts from Caldy and Tom Mantell plus a conversion and two penalties by Roberts.
Further touch downs followed via Ben Coulbeck and Patrick Leach with one more goal from Roberts.
Herts scored a late try and conversion to add to their two first-half touch downs plus a conversion and a penalty.
All the Cheshire replacements were given a run at some stage and it turned out to be a thoroughly entertaining clash.
Lancashire won the County Championship and with it the Bill Beaumont Cup with a 32-18 success at the expense of Gloucestershire.
Durham took the Plate by beating Kent 29-14 to make it a Northern rout.
