TODAY sees the last big prize of the jumps season, the Bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown and, as ever, this gruelling 3m 5f handicap chase is a puzzler for punters.
Friday, April 25th
MARK Johnston has a good record when sending horses south to Sandown and the in-form Middleham handler saddles Captain Webb in the last at the Esher track today.
Thursday, April 24th
YESTERDAY'S nap, Chief Editor landed the spoils and we also had a nice winner in Arctic Shadow (7/2) at Worcester, so let's hope we can keep up the good work today when we go to Southwell's evening Fibresand meeting for our best bet nomination.
Wednesday, April 23rd
ANOTHER pretty hectic programme, with 5 meetings in the UK and the big Punchestown Festival over the water, plus - bizarrely - BBC2 opting to screen the first 3 races on the card at Nottingham!
Tuesday, April 22nd
IN the early stages of any new Flat season, it's not uncommon for horses fit from winter jumping campaigns to take advantage of that racing edge in middle and long-distance handicaps.
Saturday, April 19th
ANOTHER busy programme featuring the Scottish Grand National at Ayr and Classic trials at Newbury, as well as more modest fare at Thirsk and Bangor this afternoon and at Nottingham and Wolverhampton this evening.
Ferdy Murphy has an excellent record in the Scottish National and I expect his pair of Leading Man and Noir Et Vert to be in the shake-up, but having tipped the winner of both the Midlands National and the big one' at Aintree I'm going for the hat-trick with Kilbeggan Blade which I expect to run a big race at a big price.
Friday, April 18th
A REALLY busy Friday programme with afternoon cards at Newbury, Thirsk and Ayr and evening cards at Cheltenham, Yarmouth and Taunton.
